Hamley's Top Ten Toys for Christmas 2013
The countdown has begun! Hamleys toy store in London is the first of the major retailers to announce the toys it thinks will be the biggest sellers this Christmas.
Intelligent pets like Teksta, the robotic puppy and Robo Fish are expected to be best-sellers during this coming Christmas season. Let's look at the toys that made the list and some of their exciting features.
Teksta the Robotic Puppy
Teksta the robotic puppy tops the list of proposed best-sellers. This uniquely created toy puppy behaves just like a living puppy. With the aid of modern technology, Teksta can respond to your voice, a wave of your hand, as well as the presence of light, noise and other sounds.
This toy is one of the fastest selling toys ever made. Robo Fish has an intelligent device that enables it to swim in water. Amazingly, it swims exactly like a real fish once it is placed in water!
Another proposed best-seller is the box of VIP pets. This assorted box of pets contains a popular sports star, a renowned party planner, a romantic writer and a bohemian, who loves nature. Each of these VIPs needs to appear before a group of photographers with the help of their owner.
Doc McStuffins Doctor’s Bag
This set of toys is a good complement to the VIP pets. If any of them falls ill, they can be treated using the items in the Doc McStuffins Doctor's Bag.
It contains a light up stethoscope, blood pressure cuff equipped with a functional gauge, syringe, and a sparkling thermometer. An exciting way to start a kid off on the path to becoming a doctor!
Lion Chi Temple Lego Set
Another toy that made the list is the Lion Chi Temple. This item comes with 7 mini creatures holding weapons, a very dynamic eagle drone warrior and a spinning tower canon which can be used to overcome any airborne assault. The toy depicts a scene of tribal wars and the struggle to get to a sacred Chi orbit that is located above the Chi temple.
Monster High 13 Wishes Dolls
The huge Monster High 13 Wishes dolls should be released later in the year. Nevertheless, this toy made the list. This set of dolls is expected to be a best-selling toy through a DVD that bears the same name. The movie tells the story of Howleen Wolf who discovers a lantern that fulfils her 13 wishes.
These unique crafted dolls come with an age restriction. They are for kids older than 3 and are accompanied with a doll stand, brush, pet diary and accessories for each doll.
The new LeapPad ultra version of this toy as made a comeback to the top-sellers list this year. This upgraded version enables kids to draw, write and play on a 7-inch high definition screen equipped with cameras in front and behind.
Another item that was included on the list is Furby Boom. It is however expected to be released to the market later in the year. Nevertheless, according to a spokeswoman at Hamleys, this toy is going to be a best-seller.
Traditional Toys Now Have Gadgets
A couple of well known 'traditional' toys have now been upgraded with high tech gadgets. For example, the game known as Chasin Cheeky now begins to dance immediately rings are tossed unto its tail. In addition, the Sulley Monster Mask has been redesigned to display facial movements triggered by a child.
The planning director at Hamleys, Laura Olver, stated that this year they have a mixture of the new and the old. For instance, the robotic puppy, Teksta was first released over 20 years ago and it sold 8 million copies. But it has now returned with brand new gestures.
