Let's take a closer look
Most parents don't like lending their iPads to their children as they know that one drop will most likely break it. The LeapPad Ultra tablet has been designed to be 'child durable' and withstand knocks and falls. However, it is worth bearing in mind that it is not dust or water resistant so should not be left out in the rain or dropped into the bath!
WiFi connection and child safe web browsing
The LeadPad Ultra tablet connects to the internet via a secure WiFi connection. The child friendly browser allow users to access the LeapSearch site to browse age appropriate videos, images and websites. Parents can also use a four digit security code to access Leap Connect to download new apps.
Users can also play games and text-chat within the same WiFi network. This is a great new feature as most parents don’t feel comfortable having their children chat to outsiders online.
Access to apps, books, gamesand more
The LeapPad Ultra tablet contains access to 800+ apps, books and movies that are tailored for children aged 4-9 years old and carefully selected by a team of people specialized in this field. Games and apps can also be adjusted to suit your child's current learning capabilities.
The tablet has been upgraded to include double the storage of its predecessor. The LeapPad Ultra tablet now contains 8GB of storage which allows plenty of space for downloading lots of the LeapFrog approved apps.
Another upgrade from the LeapPad 2 is the inclusion of a built in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery; this will last for up to 9 hours of playing time before needing to be recharged.
Stylus and Cameras
The tablet includes a stylus to help children to learn to write. There are also front and rear facing cameras and video recorders to be used in its built in imaging programs.
Is the LeapPad Ultra a good toy for my child?
If you have children who are always trying to get their hands on your tablet, then this would make a great gift. Not only is this toy tablet durable, it is also safe, educational and fun. LeapFrog refer to the LeapPad Ultra as the 'the ultimate kids learning tablet.'
What do other customers think?
At present there are no customer reviews available for the LeapPad Ultra as it is not released until August 2013
The LeapPad Ultra is definitely going to feature on many children's Christmas lists this year. It contains many additional features from the LeapPad 2, including a built-in rechargeable battery, a bigger screen, increased memory and Wi-Fi capability.
