Walmart's Holiday Top Toys for 2013
Retail giant Walmart has released its 2013 Holiday top toy list and called it ‘Chosen By Kids.’ It features toys that are both new and classic, and all toys on the list have been chosen by kids for this season.
The newcomers this year include V-Tech’s Go! Go! Smart Wheels Train Play set, Sofia the Talking Doll, and the Flutterbye Flying Fairy Doll. Not all of the toys are new, however. The perennial classic, the Barbie Dream House, is a predicted girl favourite; this makes five years straight that Barbie has been on the top of the toy list for Wal-Mart. Last year’s hit Furby, a reinvented favourite from the 1990s, has made another comeback for the second straight year, joining Elmo’s Big Hugs toy.
Wal-Mart claims to be taking the guesswork out of holiday toy shopping by going straight to the kids to find out what the current child favourites are, as described by Scott McCall, the senior vice president of toys and season lists for Wal-Mart in the United States. He says that kids have made it clear that they want interactive, fun toys, as well as old time classics. This feedback from children gave Wal-mart the chance to adjust prices for parents to offer savings on the most popular toys.
